Keipen Senja.JPG

70 km with challenging terrain and beautiful scenery.

Idyllic Senja is Norway’s second largest island (1569 km2) and is often described as «a Norway in miniature» because most of Norway’s great variety in natural characteristics are found here.

Along the outer (western) coastline, especially in the north, are jagged, majestic mountains as far as the eye can see. The summits shooting up from narrow, deep fjords and the open sea is a mighty sight.

Located at 69° North, Senja is also a paradise for ski- and outdoor enthusiasts in search of perfect mountains and spectacular nature.

Crossing Senja from north to south is a well-known summer route, but not so many do it in the winter due to weather conditions changing rapidly and avalanches conditions can make parts of the route very exposed.

The crossing of Senja is a nice test if you dream of bigger polar expedition such as Greenland crossing.

This is a standard program that may have to be adjusted due to avalanche danger and weather conditions.
