Okshornan is a famous landmark in the region, and if you have seen a picture from Senja, you most likely have seen a picture of Okshornan.

Climbing Okshornan is maybe one of the finest climbs you can do on Senja. Although the mountain range looks steep and inaccessible, it's possible to climb a simple and nice route along the ridge to the outer tooth.

The trip starts with a 30 min boat trip from Mefjordvær to the outermost point in the fjord, here we put on climbing gear and climb almost directly from the sea and straight up. This is a wonderful moment alone, with an atmosphere that is almost impossible to explain, you just have to experience it yourself. The climbing is steep, but there will be a fixed rope along the entire route that you can use to climb upwards if you want or need assistance.
 

When we get up on the ridge, it's a simple scramble until we reach the upper part of the mountain, from here it's four simple but airy rope lengths to the top.
